Development and promotion of data centers in Africa

The Africa Data Centres Association (ADCA) is a trade organization that brings together various stakeholders in the data center sector with the aim of promoting and supporting the growth of this industry and acting as a catalyst for digital development in Africa.

ADCA helps its members share their knowledge and experience to establish and improve best practices. It communicates the excellence of African data centers abroad, thus facilitating the arrival of international players in Africa.

The association operates based on a strong set of values in terms of ethics, education, environmental responsibility, and governance processes.

APL, ADCA partner, to promote responsible data centers

In January 2024, APL initiated a partnership with ADCA to share its expertise and best practices for reducing the environmental impact of data center infrastructures, from their design to their operation.

APL has notably committed to publishing a series of articles describing the impact of climate on data centers in Africa and solutions for adapting to change, and promoting eco-data centers on the continent.

The first of these is themed "Climate Change, an Opportunity to Develop Sustainable Data Centers in Africa?" It addresses the following topics:

• A reminder of the African climate and its diversity
• The impact of climate change on African infrastructures, particularly data centers, and the imperative need for adaptation
• Renewable energy sources as a solution for resilient data centers
