APL Data Center CSR review: key achievements and future prospects

APL Data Center has been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact since 2024. This membership led us to submit our first Communication on Progress (COP) questionnaire, the results of which are now available to the entire community of signatories. Review of our CSR initiatives and outlook on our priorities for the coming months.

Review of our CSR initiatives in 2025

In 2025, APL took a new step forward in its CSR commitments, notably by joining the Global Compact and publishing its 2024 CSR report, which consolidates its initiatives and highlights its approach to social responsibility. In addition, our extra-financial performance was once again recognized with the renewal of the EcoVadis gold medal, which ranks APL Data Center among the best-performing companies in terms of sustainable development.

On the social front, we worked to define our values through an internal working group, appointed four harassment officers within our Social and Economic Committee (CSE), and established a Health, Safety, and Working Conditions Committee (SSCT). A profit-sharing agreement was signed to share the value created, and a social policy was rolled out to lay the foundations for sustainable and fair human resources management. Finally, during European Disability Employment Week, a serious game was used to raise awareness of inclusion among our teams.

Regarding Health and Safety at work, we have updated our single risk assessment document and identified the five main risks associated with our business. First responder training courses have been provided, HSE site visits have been conducted, and several awareness campaigns have been organized to embed a culture of prevention within our teams.

Finally, on the environmental front, we have made significant progress with the completion of an environmental analysis and carbon footprint assessment of one of our intellectual services and the provision of electric bicycles to promote soft mobility.

Strengthening our teams and governance

For more than 20 years, we have been integrating energy and environmental issues into our projects, particularly when designing data centers. We are continuing to expand our sustainable development team, created in 2018 and composed of experts, PhDs, and innovation researchers.

Over the next two years, as our workforce and the scale of our projects grow significantly, we will strengthen our CSR approach around three priorities: governance, occupational health and safety (OHS), and the fight against corruption. This is reflected in particular by:

  • The creation of a CSR Manager position to coordinate our entire approach and strengthen our commitments to the four pillars of our CSR strategy: environmental, social, governance and ethics, and societal.
  • Strengthening the Health & Safety team: after creating a Health & Safety Manager position in 2024 to oversee OHS risk management, particularly for data center construction projects, an HSE engineer was recruited in 2025 to implement our roadmap operationally. The team will continue to grow in the coming months.
  • Creation of a Compliance Officer position to strengthen our regulatory compliance and ethics policy, particularly about GDPR, business ethics, and anti-corruption.
